Eyebrow Transplant

What is an eyebrow transplant?

An eyebrow transplant is a procedure by which follicular units are transferred from the back of the scalp to bald areas in the eyebrows. The goal is to encourage new hair growth, thereby creating the appearance of greater density. Eyebrow transplants are undoubtedly the definitive, most effective, and safest solution to restore the natural shape of the eyebrows and correct areas possibly affected by alopecia in the area. We take different approaches depending on the cause of the hair loss, and we can even recommend medical treatments along with surgery. An eyebrow transplant procedure has a set of particularities that are worth considering, such as the follicular units’ angle of implantation and the number of hairs that each follicular unit must have.

Why do I have bald patches in my eyebrows?

It’s normal to lose and regenerate eyebrow hair as part of their natural cycle. styling or excessive hair removal, which can damage the follicular units to the point of them dying. This causes the eyebrow hair not to grow back. Some diseases such as alopecia areata lead to hair loss in the eyebrows, where the body attacks follicular units. In some cases, hair loss in the eyebrow area may be an early sign of frontal fibrosing alopecia. A transplant is not indicated in these situations.

Other conditions, such as thyroid imbalances, can also lead to hair loss in different parts of the body, as can poor diet, stress, and scarring alopecia. Ageing also plays a significant role: just as the hair on the head thins with age, the eyebrows also start to decline. This is related to the slow changes in the hair cycle, where the hairs no longer have a strong growth phase, making it difficult for them to grow back completely.

What is good to combat losing eyebrow hairs?

It is essential to carry out routine daily eyebrow care to prevent eyebrow hair from falling out. Deficiencies in vitamins such as A, B, C, and E may also impact hair loss. Keep track of your diet and ensure a healthy intake of these vitamins, and your hair health will surely improve.

It is also important to have a healthy hygiene routine. Eyebrows and eyelashes should be taken care of and cleaned with products specifically for those areas. You should also avoid harsh makeup remover. Don’t forget to clean morning and night; this should be done delicately and with products that are specifically formulated for these areas. Don’t use harsh makeup removal or excessive waxing. There are special makeup removers for eyes that not only treat the surrounding skin but also provide support for the eyebrow hairs and eyelashes.

How do I take care of my eyebrows after a transplant?

It is important to take care of your eyebrows after the treatment to get the best results and prevent any problems.

For starters, you have to avoid touching them with your hands or rubbing them with your clothes in order to reduce the risk of infection. During the first day, you should spray your eyebrows with saline solution to promote healing.

After 24 hours, you can gently wash your face and eyebrows with a special shampoo and dry them with gentle strokes. Always remember that it is very important not to rub the transplants during this time.

About 3-7 days after the process, the scabs that appear in the area of the transplant will begin to fall off. You may notice slight redness after the scabs fall off, and this will disappear on its own. After 2-3 weeks, the transplanted hairs will fall out. This is a totally normal phase of the process.
